"Regard d'animaux" exhibition

Caroline Cros is passionate about animals, and her love for them is at the heart of her artistic approach.

She draws her inspiration from nature, which she sees as neither beautiful nor cruel, neither good nor bad - but as the fruit of millions of years of evolution and adaptation. A sense of wonder that invites her to contemplate, and that she transcribes in each of her drawings.

After studying Fine Arts in the Paris region and then in Montreal, she worked as a school teacher before changing her life in 2008, falling under the spell of Annecy and its mountains, which have become her playground and place to recharge her batteries.

It was after this period of trust that she rediscovered the impetus of drawing and painting, long put aside by the pace of her work. Today, her preferred medium is graphite pencil, for the simplicity and sobriety it offers, but she also explores watercolour, painting and, more recently, pyrography - all mediums that allow her to vary her approaches while remaining faithful to her sensitive universe. This minimalist approach - pencil and paper - allows her to concentrate on what's essential: the presence, the look, the uniqueness of the animal, in a direct and sensitive relationship with the viewer, because for her, wonder is the first door to consciousness.

Her artistic approach can be summed up in one sentence: ‘To amaze is already a first step towards respect and preservation’.

The "Regards d'animaux" exhibition invites us to connect, reflect and admire, through a gallery of drawings that speak without words about our relationship with living things.
